On Dec. 4 and 5, Michael Quallich, a Baldwin Middle School seventh-grader, competed at the Hurricane Tour’s National Championship as a representative of Pittsburgh’s First Tee Program. The event was hosted at Orange County National’s Panther Lake course in Orlando, Fla. Quallich played in a stacked field of more than 100 players in the 11- to 13-year-old age bracket from all around the world. He was able to card rounds of 75 and 70, taking a fourth-place finish and a score of +1 for the tournament. Over the two rounds, he hit 25 fairways, 30 greens in regulation and a total of 66 puts.

Isabella Boehm was a member of the production team for the Albright College Theatre production of “Sensitive Guys,” in November. Boehm served as dresser for the production, performed in Wachovia Theatre. A graduate of Baldwin Senior High School, Boehm is majoring in fashion/costume design at Albright.

Pleasant Hills Middle School has again been re-designated as a Pennsylvania Donald Eichhorn “School to Watch” as part of a recognition program developed by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform. The Schools to Watch program recognizes schools achieving academic excellence based on rigorous criteria established by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform.
Pleasant Hills Middle School joins a select cadre of 36 active STW schools in Pennsylvania and approximately 700 from across the nation. Pleasant Hills Middle School was initially designated as a School to Watch in 2014 and was re-designated in 2017.
Pleasant Hills Middle School will be recognized at the Pennsylvania Association for Middle Level Education State Conference in State College on Feb. 27. The school will be lauded with all the other recognized STW schools nationally June 23-25, 2022, at the National Forum’s National Schools to Watch Conference in Washington, D.C.
