Construction is scheduled to start next week on a traffic calming project in Pittsburgh’s Brookline neighborhood.
The city’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure will begin work Monday on Dunster Street between Hartranft Street and Abstract Avenue. Work is expected to last at least two days, officials said.
The project will include the installation of speed humps. Crews also will install signs and pavement markings to alert drivers of the speed humps.
Data collected in 2021 showed that more than 60% of drivers traveled through the area faster than the posted speed limit of 25 mph, city officials said.
There will be intermittent closures on Dunster Street while work is taking place. Officials said residents will be allowed through, but other traffic should find alternate routes.
Weather permitting, construction is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. beginning Monday. Parking in the area will be restricted, and temporary no parking signs will be posted.
