The West Jefferson Hills Knights of Columbus Council 11887 held its Annual Council level Basketball Free Throw Championship for boys and girls ages 9 through 14 on Feb. 7.
Champions in the boy’s age groups were 9-year-old Eli Noel, 10-year-old Brandon Wasko, 11-year-old Isaac Olson, 12-year-old Alex Louver, 13-year-old Lee Jones and 14-year-old James Gile.
Champions in the girl’s age groups were 9-year-old Brynlee Shultz, 10-year-old Makenna Shultz, and 11-year-old Olivia Machi.
All champions went on to compete in the district level of the competition. The champions of the district level of competition were 9-year-old Lamonte King (from the McKeesport Knights of Columbus Council 955), 10-year-old Brandon Wasko, 11-year-old Isaac Olson, 12-year-old Alex Louver, 13-year-old Lee Jones, 14-year-old James Gile, 9-year-old Brynlee Shultz, 10-year-old Makenna Shultz, and 11-year-old Olivia Machi.
The champions of the district level of competition advance to compete in the Regional level of competition, which was held on March 4 at Saint Joseph’s High School in Natrona Heights. Winners of the regional level of competition advanced to the state level of competition, which was held on March 11 at St. Joseph’s Council #6353 School in York, Pa.
