West Jefferson Hills School District starts school on Aug. 26
The first day of school for students in West Jefferson Hills School District is Aug. 26.
They’ll see some new faces that day, including assistant superintendent Dr. William Henderson III, who was appointed to his new role during a special school board meeting May 7.
Shannon Feagans will be teaching seventh grade math and Katherine Bonatesta will be teaching seventh grade ELA (English language arts) at Pleasant Hills Middle School. Other new teachers in the district include Alexandra Downer (life skills) and Kylie Hartbauer (first grade) at Gill Hall Elementary School; Molly Resnik (life skills) at Jefferson Hills Intermediate School; and Michael Shoats (science) and Ashley Flynn (math) at Thomas Jefferson High School.
“The district continues to be in the midst of a feasibility study, looking into projected enrollment and facility needs,” said district communications coordinator Patrick Harrigan, new to his role as of July. “The district anticipates the study to be complete in the fall/winter of 2024. This is the result of continued enrollment growth in the West Jefferson Hills School District. The district is the fastest growing school district in Allegheny County and 16th in the state, according to statistics from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.”
