Allegheny County Police have arrested a West Mifflin man in connection with a burglary and subsequent fire at a Cerasi Drive apartment building on Tuesday.

County detectives charged Kristopher Friedman, 24, of West Mifflin with burglary, receiving stolen property, arson endangering property and four counts of arson endangering persons.

Emergency responders were called to the 100 block of Cerasi Drive in Pleasant Hills around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, where they found fire in vacant apartment. Once the fire was brought under control, it was ruled incendiary by the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office.

County officials said Friedman was initially detained at the scene of the fire for public intoxication. After consulting with members of the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, Friedman was charged, arraigned and taken to the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh in lieu of $50,000 bail.

He faces a May 18 preliminary hearing in District Judge Michael W. Thatcher’s Pleasant Hills court.
