Whitehall Borough Historical Society hosted a program with author Tom McMillan on his book, “Flight 93,” on Oct. 24.

That same night, the society’s History Student of the Year Award was presented to Baldwin High School senior Rakshya Kafle. She received a plaque and her name is inscribed in the large plaque that will be on display in the Whitehall Borough Building in the Society’s display case. Additionally, three books will be purchased in her name — one for her to keep, one for the Baldwin High School Library and another to the Whitehall Borough Library.

Kafle also received a check for $500 to further her education. The program talk and award presentation at the Whitehall Community Room attracted more than 90 attendees.

The society’s next program is scheduled for Feb. 28, 2025.
