Whitehall mayor reelected, 4 new members voted onto council
Whitehall’s longtime mayor won reelection on Nov. 4, according to unofficial Allegheny County general election results.
Democrat Jim Nowalk received 3,434 votes, nearly 69% of the total cast, defeating Republican challenger Chris Mooney (1,521).
The same candidates squared off for mayor in 2021. Nowalk has held the post since 1993.
In the race for the four open seats on borough council, all were won by Democrats: Christy Kuehn (3,042 votes), Patrick Conners (2,995), Richard J. Kirsch (2,893) and Eric Crane (2,759). All will be new to council, as three incumbents – Linda Book, Kathy DePuy and William Veith – did not seek reelection.
Republican incumbent Stone Sobieralski garnered 1,912 votes, followed by fellow GOP candidates Jeremy Rose (1,688), Julia Donohue (1,669) and John Paravati (1,608).
Kelly Sgattoni was unopposed in running as both a Democrat and a Republican for tax collector.
