Speed humps coming to Webster Avenue in Pittsburgh's Hill District
An effort to reduce how fast people drive on Webster Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Upper Hill District will be expanded upon with the addition of more speed humps next month, the city’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure announced.
About two-thirds of the vehicles using Webster exceed the 25 mph speed limit, with most of them going 32 mph, according to data the city collected this spring. That data, along with a crash history on the street, prompted the plans to install two speed humps on the road between Herron Avenue and Orion Street, the city said.
It will build on a previous effort to reduce speeds that was made in 2019, the city said. Signs and pavement markings will accompany the speed humps.
The work to install them will start the week of June 1 and will take two days, weather permitting. That section of the street will be closed during the work.
Buses and local traffic will be allowed to pass through the work zone.
