• Shaler Area High School student Ivy Wegner won honorable mention in the 10th-12th grade category of the WPCTE (Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English) Flash Fiction Contest. Wegner’s entry, “The Key,” was one of only five who earned this award in her grade category. Students were asked to write a very short story, less than 500 words, with a plot and developed characters. Wegner’s story was about a mysterious key to a drawer that held secrets.
