Northern Tier Library is gearing up for another Summer Learning Program, which will run through Aug. 5, and end with a celebration on Aug. 6.

Ocean of Possibilities is the theme for 2022, and that means lots of ocean-related stories, crafts and activities. The library will offer a wide variety of programs and materials to encourage ocean exploration: family art projects, STEAM activities, collaborative zine creations, cooking classes and tons of books to read.

There will be paper art kits and DIY crafts available for families to pick up and enjoy at home. Outdoor activities, including zine creation, STEAM experiments and storytimes, will be offered outside every week. Indoor activities will be available too, such as drop-in programming that can be enjoyed any time when visiting the library, and the return of the kids cooking program.

For more information, call the library at 724-449-2665 or visit northerntierlibrary.org.

Tree Pittsburgh

Tuesdays at 3 p.m. Tree Pittsburgh is an environmental nonprofit organization. This program is for all ages, and registration is required.

The Saturday Comics

Saturdays, June 18 and July 30, 1-2 p.m. One Saturday every month, discuss what’s happening amidst the panels of a graphic novel.

Brews & Brushes

Join the library for two evenings of beer tasting and art to celebrate the works of Frida Kahlo and Bob Ross. The programs are for adults ages 21 and up. The fee is $30 per person, and registration is required for this event.

June 16, 6 p.m. – Celebrate Frida Kahlo while enjoying light-bodied beers (Mexican lagers and pilsners, anyone?) and munch on Mexican-inspired refreshments.

July 14, 6 p.m. – Celebrate Bob Ross while enjoying malty-darker brews such as porters, bocks, dunkels and stouts. Sweet treats and desserts will accompany these fine selections.

Book Bingo

Pick up a BINGO card and play to win books! Get a “bingo” on your card, and you will receive a free book coupon for our annual Book Sale. Fill the entire card, and we will add a book to the library’s collection in your honor! Turn in your card at the front desk by the last day of the Summer Learning Program for credit.

NTRLBOOKS Online Book Store

Whether you are looking for the latest bestselling books, a picture book to share with a child, or a treasured book memory, the library’s online book store allows you to order and pay for books online, then pick them up at the Northern Tier Library. All purchases support the library.

Pine Community Center Book Drop

Return your library items while you visit the Pine Community Center. A new book drop has been installed there for your convenience. During the summer, items returned to the Pine Community Center Book Drop will not have fines assessed to them.

Holiday Hours

The library will be closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.
