Join Hampton Community Library’s summer reading program, “Come On! All Together Now!”

Children through age 12 can register for in-person programs starting June 1. Participants receive a swag bag and have the opportunity to earn raffle tickets each week by reading.

Youth and adults can also register for summer reading and have the chance to win prizes and earn raffle tickets by reading.

Other programs offered by the library include:

• Gather ’Round Storytime, starting at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 13 to Aug. 17. The program includes singing, rhyming and story listening, suitable for families and individuals of all ages. Please note that the same program will be offered every day throughout the summer.

• Checkmate Summer Chess Club, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays from June 19 to July 31. Players of all skill levels, ages 5-12, are welcome. Register on arrival.

• Jammin’ at the Pavilion: A Story and Play Time, 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 20 to Aug. 10. This interactive playtime features stories, songs, bubbles and more. The program will take place rain or shine at the Grubbs Pavilion, behind the community pool. No registration is required, and it is designed for families and individuals of all ages.

• Creative Writing: Spin Your Own Fairy Tale, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays from June 13 to July 25. Participants, ages 6-10, can write a different ending to a fairy tale or create their own. Registration for this six-week creative class is requested, although attendance at each session is not required.

• We Create Wednesdays, 1:30 p.m. from June 14 to Aug. 9. Each week will offer a different activity, such as creating objects from recycled materials or participating in a Lego challenge. The program is open to ages 5 and up. Weekly registration is appreciated to ensure sufficient supplies. The program duration will vary depending on the challenge of each week, about 45 to 60 minutes.

• Meet and greet an American Girl between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Thursdays from June 15 to July 27. Each week, there will be games, stories and other activities featuring a different American Girl character. All children ages 5-10 are invited to bring their dolls and join in the fun.

• Intro to Scrapbooking class, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 19. During the first hour, you will create a simple page to take home and frame. Bring three or four pictures to get started. Marie Golio of Creative Memories will be present to share her expertise and to support fellow scrapbookers and their goals. No registration is required.

• News and Views! First Fridays, 1 p.m. July 7 and Aug. 4. Led by local author and journalist Gerry K. Smith, this discussion group invites members to participate as guest leaders on the first Friday of each month. All members are welcome to propose discussion topics. New members are encouraged to join.

• Card Club, 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Enjoy a game of 500 Bid or try something new. Show off your skills, teach others a new game or simply spend time with friends, old and new.

• Betty’s Book Buzz discussion group, 1 p.m. June 16. The group will discuss “The Wonder” by Emma Donoghue. Call the library at 412-684-1098 to request a copy of the book. All individuals interested in engaging conversations and good reads are invited to join.

• Murder By the Book! A Mystery Book Discussion, 6:30 p.m. June 21, featuring “The Perfect Marriage” by Jeneva Rose. The Mystery Book Group will meet at the Grubbs Pavilion during the summer. Call the library at 412-684-1098 to request a copy of the book.

• Cooks-N-Books: Potluck Picnic, 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 22. Bring your favorite dish to share and enjoy the company of old and new friends. The event will be held at the Hampton Community Park Rotary Pavilion, near the police station and soccer field.

The library will have summer hours through Labor Day: Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (starting June 14); Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please note that the library will be closed from July 1 through July 4, for the holiday, and there will be no children’s programs during the week of July 4.
