The SWAT team was called to a home in Pittsburgh’s East Hills neighborhood after a man was shot in the stomach early Tuesday morning, according to the city Department of Public Safety.

The city’s Shotspotter audio detection system alerted officers of a gunshot fired on the 2500 block of Park Hill Drive around 12:30 a.m.

First responders found a man who had been shot in the abdomen, according to police. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance in stable condition.

Police learned the shots may have been fired from inside a nearby residence. They talked to a woman who left the home in question and learned that an armed man might still be inside the building.

The SWAT team arrived and confirmed there was a man inside, according to police.

SWAT negotiators were able to make contact with the man, police said. Both the man and woman were detained for questioning.

The investigation is ongoing.
