A 17-year-old boy is dead after a shooting Thursday afternoon at a home in Pittsburgh’s Mount Oliver neighborhood.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Tyrome Gatewood Jr. of Carrick.

Police reported to a home on the 100 block of Rochelle Street just after 1 p.m. following a ShotSpotter alert.

They found the teen inside the home with a gunshot wound. Officers attempted to treat the boy, but he was pronounced dead by medics a short time later.

Police detained a person of interest for questioning, but no arrests have been as of Thursday night. Pittsburgh public information officers did not immediately respond to a request for further information.

Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
