Pittsburgh Carrick student fatally shot in Allentown neighborhood
A Pittsburgh Carrick High School student was fatally shot Tuesday night in the city’s Allentown neighborhood.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the 15-year-old boy as Tre’Sean Jackson.
“A quiet leader who cared deeply about his friends and family, Tre’sean was always willing to contribute to class, actively participating and working well with his classmates,” Pittsburgh Public Schools spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said in a statement Wednesday. “His teachers, friends, and the entire Carrick staff mourn this tragic loss. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”
Zone 3 police said they responded to a ShotSpotter alert near the 200 block of Beltzhoover Avenue at around 5:10 p.m. and found Jackson with a gunshot wound to the chest in the area of Loyal Way and Harcourt Way. He was transported in critical condition to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Police said there is currently no description of a suspect or suspects. Pittsburgh Police’s Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.
“We care a great deal about the health and wellness of our students and staff. Student and Employee Assistance providers are on hand at the school today to support anyone who needs it,” Pugh said.
