Teen killed in Mt. Oliver shooting

Pittsburgh police said a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in Mt. Oliver late Sunday.

Pittsburgh police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old boy Sunday night in Mt. Oliver.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Andrew Lavaughn Smith of Pittsburgh.

Police responded to a report of shots being fired in the 400 block of Brownsville Road around 9:15 p.m.

Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said the victim was found with gunshot wounds to the neck and head.

First responders took the teen to UPMC Mercy, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police are investigating.
