Police said that they were told that a 14-year-old girl attacked the victim with a pair of scissors.
New Outlook Academy is an all girl school for ages 13-18, in grades 7-12, according to its website.
The program is designed for “at-risk adolescent females, the world can be frightening and overwhelming, lacking dependable support systems and protection from abuse, neglect and violence … As a result, many of them suffer physical and emotional harm and turn to substance abuse and destructive behavior to cope with circumstances they cannot control,” their website said.
A spokesperson for New Outlook Academy said in a statement that “an incident involving two students occurred today at New Outlook Academy, which required paramedic and police assistance,” but declined to provide further comment on the details of the attack.
It was unclear on Monday evening what let up to the incident.
Police said the 14-year-old was placed in custody with charges pending.
