Winter weather is delivering a one-two punch across the region this weekend.
Following Friday’s bout of freezing rain, temperatures are expected to plummet more than 30 degrees Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Moon.
“It looks like it’s probably one of those days where temperatures are warmest in the morning, around 50 degrees and by the end of the day, we’ll be below freezing,” meteorologist Timothy Cermak said.
According to TribLive news partner WTAE, Monday’s significant temperature drop will bring windy conditions, flash freezes and travel impacts.
Cermak said temperatures will dip into the low 20s overnight Monday and into Tuesday.
“We probably won’t get above freezing,” he said.
Weather will remain bitter until mid-week when temperatures begin to moderate, Cermak said.
The cold blast follows a round of storms that were expected to drop up to a quarter-inch of ice across the region Friday.

“It looks like it’s going to be intense … It’s mainly north and east of Pittsburgh. But there could be a glaze on roads in and around Pittsburgh,” Andrew Kienzle, a NWS meteorologist, said on Thursday.
