Trick-or-treating will start an hour earlier in Etna and Shaler so residents can attend the Shaler Area Titans playoff football game Friday night, the townships announced Tuesday.

Etna and Shaler had previously scheduled their trick-or-treating from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Each will now begin at 5 p.m.

“We understand that some residents might not be home from work by 5 p.m. but are hoping this gives everyone who wants to attend the football game enough time to trick or treat first and then go cheer on the Titans,” Shaler said in its notice.

The Titans play Kiski Area at home beginning at 7 p.m.

Millvale and Reserve are not changing their times, representatives of the borough and township said. Millvale’s trick-or-treating will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., while Reserve’s is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Shaler also noted for those attending the game that parking is prohibited across Mt. Royal Boulevard from the stadium on Shaler, Mason, Park Circle, Circle, Parkway and Vollmer drives.

Parking and shuttle service will be available from Kiwanis Park to the stadium.
