Town boards reorganize in North Allegheny communities

Thomas J. Madigan is chairman of the Marshall Township Board of Supervisors.

The November elections changed the make-up of town councils and governing bodies. During meetings in January election winners were sworn into office and the boards filled leadership positions.

Here is a breakdown:

Bradford Woods

Victoria Pongrace was elected president of Bradford Woods Council and David Baldonieri vice president during its reorganization meeting Jan. 3.

District Judge William K. Wagner administered the oath of office to election winners, who included Pongrace, Kevin Rhule, Dan Bo Dimond, and Baldonieri. Their terms will expire in 2026.

Meetings are conducted the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m., except for Oct. 11, 2022, or as advertised at www.bradfordwoodspa.org.

Other council members are Jennifer Griffin, President Pro-Tem; Todd Hipwell and Tom Kosmala. Their terms expire in 2023.

Franklin Park

John P. Parks was elected president of Franklin Park Council, Lucas R. Myslinski was elected vice president and Thomas C. Schwartzmier was elected second vice president during council’s reorganization meeting Jan. 3.

Parks and Myslinski represent Ward 2. Schwartzmier represents Ward 3.

State Superior Court Judge Judith Ference Olson administered the oath of office to Myslinski, Uday Palled, Tom Schwartzmier, whose council terms expire in December 2025, and Dennis O’Keefe as mayor. His term expires in 2025 as well.

Sitting council include Jiang Li, who represents Ward 1, and Brian Malkin, who represnts Ward 3. Their terms expire in December 2023, as will Parks’.

North Allegheny student Jackie DiGiacomo, will serve as the junior council person. Her term will last the 2021-22 school year.

Pre-meetings are held at 7 p.m. and regular meetings at 8 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month. Work sessions are held the first Wednesday every month at 7 p.m. all at the Municipal Building 2344 W. Ingomar Road. Any exceptions to dates can be found at franklinparkborough.us.

Marshall Township

Thomas Madigan was sworn in to a new term as Marshall Township supervisor and continued his leadership position as chairman during the board’s reorganization meeting on Jan. 3.

Philip Troy continues in his position as vice chairman.

Madigan won re-election November 2021 as did Robert Edwards. Their terms in office will expire in 2027.

Other board members are Jason Bragunier, whose term expires in 2023 and Anthony (Jack) Candek, whose term expires in 2025.

The supervisors meet the first and last Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at 525 Pleasant Hill Road. Exceptions to these days are posted on twp.marshall.pa.us.

McCandless Township

Michael Tarle of Ward 3 will lead McCandless Town Council as president. Carolyn Schweiger of Ward 6 will serve as vice president.

The council conducted its organization meeting Jan. 3.

Newly elected council members Robert “Jack” Casey representing Ward 2 and Jason Singer of Ward 4 also took their seats. Their terms expire in 2026, as will Schweiger’s, who was re-elected in November. District Judge William K. Wagner administered the oaths of office.

Tarle’s term in office expires in 2024.

Other council members are Kimberly Zachary of Ward 1, Kathleen Roppa of Ward 5 and Patricia Cloonan of Ward 7. Their terms expire in 2024.

Town council conducts its regular meetings on the second and fourth Monday of the month at town hall on Grubbs Road. People also can observe virtually. Exceptions to this schedule are posted on townofmccandless.org.
