Drivers traveling northbound on PA Turnpike 43, also known as the Mon/Fayette Expressway, may run into delays this week as workers erect bridge beams over Jefferson Boulevard in the borough of Jefferson Hills.

On Wednesday and Thursday, Turnpike Commission maintenance vehicles plan to pace traffic between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., from milepost 48 to Exit 54 at Jefferson Boulevard.

This work is part of the larger project on the Mon/Fayette Expressway on the Route 51 to I-376 project’s southern section. When construction of both the southern and northern sections of the project finishes, traffic will be able to travel 68 miles from I-68 near Morgantown, West Virginia to I-376 in Monroeville.

The pacing vehicles will keep traffic moving slowly while construction crews work to place the bridge beams. If needed, traffic will be stopped for 15 minutes at a time for crews to safely erect the bridge beams.

Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
