PennDOT announced long-term lane restrictions on the Parkway East in Monroeville beginning Monday.
Around-the-clock single-lane restrictions on 1-376 in both directions between the Penn Hills (exit 81) and Monroeville/Plum (exit 84 A/B) interchanges will begin at 7 a.m. and continue through April 17.
“Crews will conduct median barrier reconstruction, concrete repairs, asphalt improvements, and other miscellaneous construction activities,” PennDOT said.
The repair work is part of a $70.1 million Parkway East Betterment Project.
The project includes: superstructure replacement over Old William Penn Highway, two bridge rehabilitations over Old William Penn Highway, Lougeay Road, Sunset Drive and Thompson Run Road, Thompson Run, Union Railroad as well as six bridge preservations along the Parkway.
PennDOT said the improvements on the 4.5 miles of the Parkway East between the Churchill/Route 130 (exit 79B) and Monroeville/Route 48 (exit 84A) are expected to conclude in the fall.
“Please use caution if traveling through the corridor while the traffic control measures are being installed,” PennDOT said.
