Healthcare giant UPMC plans to lift its mask mandate this week after requiring facial coverings in its facilities for the last two months.

DoubleTree by Hilton hotel next to Monroeville Convention Center to close

The owner made the decision to close the hotel because it is losing money, because renovations requested by Hilton are too expensive and because businesses in Monroeville are slowing down.

The hotel regularly hosted guests attending events at the Monroeville Convention Center, which is set to be shuttered June 1 to make way for a Hobby Lobby store.

The store’s price scanning system failed an annual inspection Monday, resulting in red “rejected” tags being placed at all of the Tarentum Bridge Road store’s registers to alert consumers.

Washington & Jefferson names new president

Elizabeth MacLeod Walls is now serving as president of William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri.

Officials said Tuesday that she will succeed John Knapp, who earlier disclosed plans to retire on June 30.

Wendy’s clarifies position on dynamic pricing, says it won’t raise prices

“To clarify, Wendy’s will not implement surge pricing, which is the practice of raising prices when demand is highest. We didn’t use that phrase, nor do we plan to implement that practice,” a spokesperson said.

The Pittsburgh area is home to about 60 Wendy’s locations, according to the company’s website.
