Federal and local authorities on Tuesday arrested a Pittsburgh man accused of killing a man and injuring another in a shooting this past summer in the city’s Brighton Heights neighborhood, officials said.

U.S.Marshals teamed up with Pittsburgh police officers to find suspect Darnell McFaddden, 24, of the city’s North Side neighborhood in connection to the mid-June killing of 28-year-old Demetrius Herring.

Officials with the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety did not provide details on how or where McFadden was located, but confirmed Tuesday he was taken into custody.

McFadden faces charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault in connection to the death of 28-year-old Demetrius Herring, Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesman Maurice Matthews said.

McFadden also is facing drug and gun charges, court records show.

At about 1:45 a.m. on June 14, emergency dispatchers received multiple ShotSpotter alerts near the 1200 block of Woods Run Avenue.

Officers from Pittsburgh’s Zone station and medics responded and arrived to find a male victim with a gunshot wound to his chest. Medics took him to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries shortly after.

Meanwhile, another man who had been shot arrived at a nearby hospital by private transportation, Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said. He was initially listed in critical condition and later recovered. He was not identified by police.
