An Uber driver and passenger were hospitalized after being shot early Wednesday in the Mon Valley, authorities said.

Allegheny County Police were dispatched around 1:20 a.m. to Homestead’s West Street after 911 dispatchers received a report about a man with a gunshot wound there.

The man, who police have not named, went to an area hospital before first responders arrived at the scene, Jim Madalinsky, the county police spokesman, said. He remained in stable condition Wednesday.

Police later determined the shooting took place in the 1100 block of West Street, Madalinsky said.

That stretch of the residential road sits about six blocks away from Homestead’s Eighth Avenue business district.

First responders later found a second man, who police also did not name, with a gunshot wound authorities called “non-life-threatening.” He was found in the 200 block of West Miller Avenue in Munhall.

An ambulance took the second victim to an area hospital, police said. He also remained in stable condition.

Police said the man found in Munhall was the driver.

Investigators did not say what prompted the shooting.

No arrests have been announced.

“Detectives are continuing to investigate, and we do not have any additional information to share at this time,” Madalinsky said.

Officials asked anyone with information to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
