An Uptown man is facing a federal indictment, accused of robbing three Downtown Pittsburgh banks between Jan. 31 and Feb. 8.
Calvin Leavy, 67, of Pride Street, was arrested Feb. 8 in the Midtown section of the city, police said. They said Leavy had taken a Port Authority bus after robbing the First National Bank in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue at 9:15 a.m.
He is accused of demanding money and indicating he had a gun during the incident, although no one saw a weapon.
Leavy was also charged with two Jan. 31 robberies — the First National Bank on Forbes Avenue and the PNC Bank on Fifth Avenue.
Federal officials said Leavy robbed the banks of more than $1,500 in total.
If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
