URA approves sale of Downtown's Roberts and Skinny buildings for $1.3M
Pittsburgh’s Urban Redevelopment Authority on Thursday agreed to sell the Roberts Building and Skinny Building in Downtown for $1.3 million.
The Planning Commission last month approved plans to revitalize the historic buildings.
The plan is to connect the structure known as the Skinny Building on Forbes Avenue with the Roberts Building on Wood Street. A new five-story building will be constructed at 433 Wood Street, where an existing three-story structure is set to be demolished.
Plans call for food and beverage or retail space at the ground level of the Skinny Building, with an art installation on the top levels that will be visible from the street. Plans for the site also include a rooftop deck and flexible office space.

The URA unanimously approved the sale of the site to PNC Bank for $1.3 million, plus costs.
Built in 1926, the Skinny Building originally housed a vegetable market. The Roberts Building, constructed in the 1860s, once housed a jewelry retailer and most recently served as a 7-Eleven.
