The United Steelworkers union has reached a tentative agreement on a four-year deal with Allegheny County that will raise wages and improve working conditions for about 200 court-related professional workers, the union said Friday.

The USW/Allegheny County Court-Related Professional Employees unit represents workers in the court records, district attorney, medical examiner and public defender offices, the union said. The current contract expires Dec. 31 and the new agreement, if ratified, will run from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2026, the Pittsburgh-based union said.

The tentative agreement reached Friday through negotiations with the county administration avoided “the long, expensive arbitration process,” said Bernie Hall, USW District 10 director.

Allgheny County spokeswoman Amie Downs said that the county thanks the USW for its “hard work, cooperation and professionalism in reaching this tentative agreement.”

The agreement will allow the county to continue to provide the services “while also ensuring that our employees receive fair compensation and benefits,” Downs said.

Additional details were not immediately available.
