An adult patient was airlifted by medical helicopter to an area trauma center after a crash involving a motorcycle Friday evening in Lower Burrell, according to first responders.

The crash occurred on Route 56 in the vicinity of Hill Crest Country Club.

Chief Brennan Sites said Lower Burrell Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 was called to the crash site shortly after 7 p.m. and remained on the scene at 10 p.m. He said traffic on the road was restricted, but vehicles were getting through in both directions.

Lower Burrell police are investigating the crash.
