A man was injured Tuesday afternoon when his car veered across traffic and rolled onto a hillside just off Freeport Road in O’Hara Township, officials said.

Rescue workers used special tools to cut the man from his vehicle, O’Hara Township police Officer Keith Carney said.

Emergency dispatchers received a report of the car crash on Powers Run Road about 100 yards from Freeport Road at about 4:40 p.m.

The man was driving along Powers Run Road toward Freeport Road when his car drifted to the left into oncoming traffic then came to a rest along a hillside, Carney said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Carney said.

Police would not immediately release details nor provide an update on the man’s identity or condition, pending notification of his family.

The incident stalled traffic for a couple of hours while officials shut down a section of Powers Run Road. The wreckage was cleared and road reopened by 7 p.m.

Park View EMS and firefighters from Fox Chapel, Blawnox and Aspinwall assisted.

O’Hara police are investigating.
