One lane of southbound Route 28 near Exit 10 was closed Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, because two boulders fell down a hillside and onto the shoulder.

Authorities reduced Southbound Route 28 in Harmar Township to a single-lane around 5 p.m. Tuesday because of a landslide, PennDOT said.

The single-lane closure is in place between the Harmar (Exit 11) and RIDC Drive (Exit 10) interchanges after two large boulders fell from the hillside onto the shoulder of the road.

Traffic began backing up about a mile before Exit 10. The lane closure lasted for a few hundred feet.

The department says engineers need to determine if material is still moving before the lane restriction can be lifted.

PennDOT advises motorists to use caution in the area.
