A man is in stable condition after being shot Tuesday in New Kensington, according to the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s office.

Police responded at about 7:45 p.m. to the 1300 block of Leishman Avenue for reports of shots fired.

The victim, Garrick Marshall, no age available, suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Harrison and was transferred by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh’s North Side.

New Kensington police were not immediately available for comment.

County detectives and the forensics team also responded to the scene.

“Senseless acts of violence will not be tolerated in our county,” District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli said in a prepared statement.

She thanked the emergency responders, police and detectives for their action and said she is hopeful for quick apprehension of the shooter.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 724-339-7533 or the county detectives at 724-830-3949.
