A 22-year-old man was killed when his car was hit head-on by a minivan heading the wrong way on Route 380 in Washington Township Sunday, according to township police.
Township police said Zeth Reber, of Washington Township, was driving east in the eastbound lane and Abigail Jones, 23, from Carlisle was going the wrong way, heading west in the eastbound lane.
Jones’ minivan hit Reber’s car head-on near Route 780 shortly after 4:30 p.m., police said.
The Westmoreland County Coroner said Reber was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause and manner of his death were pending; an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
According to the coroner, Reber was alone in his car; he was wearing a seatbelt, and his car’s airbags deployed. He was entrapped and suffered multiple, blunt force injuries.
Seven people in the minivan, including Jones, were taken to Forbes Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
Police were continuing to investigate. No charges have yet been filed.
