2 hurt in 3-vehicle crash involving mail truck in Bell Township
A postal worker and another driver were hurt in a three-vehicle crash Friday in Bell Township, according to state police.
The crash happened just before noon on Route 819 near McDivitt Drive.
According to state police, Ruth A. Diekhoff, 87, of Avonmore was traveling north in an SUV when she hit the back of a USPS mail truck driven by Tyler D. Tuttle, 31, of Saltsburg.
Tuttle had been stopped partially on the road while delivering mail, state police said. The impact pushed the mail truck off the road and onto a lawn.
Diekhoff’s SUV then spun into the southbound lane where it hit a box truck driven by Jason A. Trayers, 49, of Larimer.
Diekhof and Tuttle suffered injuries state police described as “moderate.” They were taken to Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville by ambulance.
Trayers was not hurt, state police said.
All three vehicles were towed from the scene.
