Police officers help push a vehicle away from a second vehicle involved in a crash at Gunny’s Lounge in New Kensington on Tuesday.

An SUV rolled over and landed in the front porch of Gunny’s Lounge in New Kensington on Tuesday afternoon, sending two people to the hospital.

The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. along the 900 block of McCandless Street.

Two vehicles appeared to be involved in the crash. Gunny’s owner Bob Bordonaro said the drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital; one person had to be extracted from his vehicle.

No one was inside the restaurant during the time of the crash, Bordonaro said.

“It didn’t hit the building, it was just on the front porch itself,” he said.

The crash did affect one of the building’s exits, and an engineer will assess damage, Bordonaro said. Gunny’s will reopen once it gets approval from city officials in regard to structural damage, he said.
