Apollo

Apollo Veterans of Foreign Wars and Hose Company No. 2 will sponsor a service at 9 a.m. at the North Plaza Memorial. Former Armstrong County Commissioner Bill Kerr will be the speaker.

Brackenridge

Members of the American Legion will raise the flag at noon in front of the Post, 845 First Ave. A ceremony will be afterward at the monument in Brackenridge Park There will be speakers, a wreath laying and rifle volleys. A C-17 Globemaster aircraft from the 9-11 Airlift Wing at Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station will do a flyover at the end of the ceremony. No refreshments will be served afterward.

Kiski Township

Kiski Township American Legion will sponsor a service at 10:30 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, next to Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church on Route 56, Spring Church. Vietnam veteran Jack Wilmot will be the guest speaker.

Leechburg

The parade will form at 9:30 a.m. at the bottom of Second Street and will step off at 10 a.m. The route will be Second Street, left on Market, right on Third Street, right onto Main Street to First Street, right onto Market Street to Freedom Square. All groups and organizations are welcome. Veterans who want to carry a flag or rifle should meet by 9:15 a.m. at Freedom Square on Market Street. Convertible cars are needed to carry veterans in the parade.

Lower Burrell

Parade lineup will be at 10:30 a.m. at Schreiber Street. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at City Hall and proceed down Leechburg Road to the American Legion on Wildlife Lodge Road. A memorial service will be at noon at the American Legion followed by an open house from 1 to 3 p.m.

New Kensington/Arnold

The Joint Veterans Committee of New Kensington and Arnold will hold services at 9:30 a.m. at Roosevelt Park, Arnold, and at 10:30 a.m. at the Gold Star Mothers monument in New Kensington. Wreaths will be placed for the departed veterans of all wars.

Oakmont/Verona

A parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on East Railroad Avenue and proceed to the cemetery in Oakmont, where a service will be at 11 a.m. Frank Bonaroti will be parade marshal, and state Rep. Carrie Del Rosso will be grand marshal. Speakers at the service will be Donald Koenig, lieutenant commander in the Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps and the executive director of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare. The program will include the traditional decorating of the chairs, a rifle salute, calling of the honor roll and patriotic music selections. All participants and spectators must follow CDC and state covid-19 guidelines. Donations are being accepted to offset costs of the ceremony. Checks payable to Oakmont-Verona Memorial Day Committee can be sent to 504 Maryland Ave., Oakmont PA 15139

Saxonburg

The American Legion will sponsor a parade at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street. There will be activities afterward in Roebling Park.

Springdale-Harmar

Springdale Veterans Association and West Deer American Legion will have a service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Deer Creek Cemetery, 902 Russellton Road. Monday services will be at 8 a.m. at the Allegheny River Marina, 8:30 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, 9 a.m. at Harwick Veterans Memorial, 9:30 a.m. at Orville Honor Roll and 10 a.m. at Springdale Cemetery on School Street. Participants will parade at 10:30 a.m. down Pittsburgh Street from the Veterans Association to the Porter Street memorial for an 11 a.m. service.

Vandergrift

Departure for services will be at 7:45 a.m. from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 141 Sumner Ave. Services will be in North Vandergrift, Parks; the Vandergrift Bridge; the Century 21 monument and the Kiski Area High School driveway monument, both in Allegheny Township; Vandergrift Cemetery; St. Gertrude Cemetery; and East Vandergrift monument. A breakfast for those who participate in the services will be served afterward on the second floor of the VFW. Parade lineup will be at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Kiski Area East Elementary School, 420 Franklin Ave., and step off will be at 10:15 a.m. The procession will go down Franklin Avenue to Grant Avenue and end at the memorial at the Casino Theatre, where there will be a service about 11 a.m. Events are sponsored by the Joint Veterans, which consists of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Veterans Honor Guard.

West Deer, East Deer and Indiana Township

West Deer American Legion and Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion will hold services at 8:30 a.m. at the Bairdford World War II Memorial, 9 a.m. at the West Deer Municipal Building, 9:30 a.m. at the Rural Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, 10:15 a.m. at the East Deer Memorial, 11 a.m. at the Indiana Township Memorial, 11:45 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Gardens and 12:30 p.m. at the West Deer American Legion. Lunch will be served after the service at the American Legion. Everyone welcome.
