2023 Veterans Day events in the A-K Valley

Veterans Day events are planned throughout the Valley. Note: some events require reservations.

Apollo

Curran Funeral Homes will host its 20th annual celebration of veterans at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 100 Owens View Ave. Reservations required by Nov. 9. Reservations: 724-478-1244.

Leechburg

The Marconi Club will serve a free spaghetti dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 for veterans and one guest at the club, 135 River Ave.

Lower Burrell

Events on Nov. 11 include: a ceremony at 9:45 a.m. in the flag plaza of Greenwood Memorial Park. The annual parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Leechburg Road. A service will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars on Wildlife Lodge Road.

New Kensington/Arnold

The Joint Veterans Committee will sponsor Veterans Day programs Nov. 11. Events will be at 9:30 a.m. in Arnold’s Roosevelt Park and at 10 a.m. at the Gold Star Monument in New Kensington.

Springdale

Springdale Veterans Association will have a Veterans Day service at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 on the grounds of Valley Gospel Church in the Orrville section of Springdale Township. Bells of Peace will be observed at 11 a.m.

Tarentum

The Alle-Kiski Valley Heritage Museum will sponsor a free program at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at the museum, 224 E. Seventh Ave. Speakers will include Peggy Fisher, author of “Daddy Came Home,” and Dwight Boddorf, who is the borough manager of Tarentum and a combat veteran, Purple Heart recipient and a veterans advocate.

Vandergrift

• A Veterans Day program will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Casino Theatre.

• The Kiski Valley Community Band will perform a benefit patriotic concert at 1 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Casino Theatre. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Vandergrift Veterans Memorial project.
