2nd covid vaccine clinic at Valley High School open to those needing 1st shot
A clinic to administer second covid vaccination shots at Valley High School Wednesday afternoon will also be open to anyone needing a first shot, New Kensington-Arnold acting Superintendent Jon Banko said.
About 130 people, including students and staff, got their first doses of the Pfizer vaccine at the initial clinic conducted by UPMC at the high school on May 12, Banko said. He was not able to break that number down between students, district employees and the public.
Students ages 12 and older were able to get the vaccine with parental consent.
While the clinic being held from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday in the high school gymnasium is primarily intended for those people to get their second shots, Banko said anyone needing a first shot can come.
If enough people come to receive first shots, Banko said UPMC will return to the school in three weeks to administer second doses to those individuals. If the number is small, he said they would have to go to another location for the second shot.
