Students in the Leechburg Area, Allegheny Valley and Riverview will be on a two-hour delay Friday so staff can develop plans to continue educating students if a decision is made to shut down school buildings to curb the spread of the coronavirus, district officials announced.

The delay is for students only.

Officials in the Leechburg Area School District said the delay does not affect the Lenape vocational school, private school students who use transportation provided by the district and other district activities.

In addition to the delay, the Allegheny Valley School District has cancelled morning pre-kindergarten classes. Students who attend vocational school or other educational programs outside the district will follow their regular schedule.

The delay announced for the Riverview School District only affects students. District officials said the time will allow staff to “review and fine-tune lessons in the event of a potential future school closure.”
