A boat blocked traffic in both directions along Stevenson Boulevard in New Kensington Monday.

Firefighters said the incident took place shortly before noon near the Fourth Street intersection.

Cameron Yockey of Realty ONE Group Horizon in Murrysville was in the traffic jam.

He said he had left an appointment in Gilpin for another in Plum when he saw the boat come to a rest on the roadway.

“It appeared the boat had disconnected itself from the trailer it was on somehow,” Yockey said. “Likely something broke or rusted apart.”

Firefighters said no one was injured and the road was reopened in a little less than an hour.

The boat was hoisted onto a flatbed truck and towed away by Elias Towing.
