An air filter manufacturer moving into the New Kensington Advanced Manufacturing Park will hold its first hiring event this month.

Alabama-based Filterbuy is looking to hire 15 to 20 full-time machine operators and assemblers, said Glenna George, human resources and payroll manager.

The hiring event will be Tuesday, July 20, at PA CareerLink Alle-Kiski in New Kensington.

George said there are no specific qualifications or requirements. Training will be provided.

Candidates are only asked to bring two forms of identification to the event. Those hired would work daylight, 10-hour shifts Mondays through Thursdays.

George said the starting hourly rates are between $12.50 and $14.50, depending on the position and a candidate’s experience.

Employee benefits begin 60 days after start date, but employees begin accruing vacation and paid time off from the date they start.

“I’m really looking forward to the event,” George said. “I hope we get a good amount of people in there.”

Filterbuy makes air conditioner and furnace filters for homes and business.

Gov. Tom Wolf’s office announced in March that the company chose the Alle-Kiski Valley for its first facility in the northeastern U.S. The manufacturing park, formerly the Schreiber Industrial Park, spans New Kensington and Arnold, with Filterbuy’s space falling in parts of both cities.

It has been shipping filters out of the manufacturing park for about five weeks; production is scheduled to start there July 26, with the new local hires working alongside experienced employees from Alabama, George said.

George said another hiring event for more people is expected within six to eight weeks.

The company’s goal is to hire 100 by the end of the year, she said.
