Alcoa is asking Upper Burrell’s zoning board to make way for temporary parking spaces off White Cloud Road.
The zoning hearing board meets next week to consider the proposal.
“They need extra parking,” said Supervisors Chairman Ross G. Walker III.
According to Alcoa’s application, the company currently leases parking spaces from a nearby property owner, Arconic, for its employees. That allows parking and staging for contractors on Alcoa’s campus for construction projects.
The property is at 859 White Cloud Road and is zoned industrial.
The parking lease expires Tuesday.
“As a result, Alcoa employees that were parking in this location will most likely need to work remotely,” the application said. “This will not be feasible due to the nature of their work.”
Alcoa is seeking approval for temporary parking for its contractors until a new parking lease can be executed. That is expected to occur within the next three to six months, the application said.
An Alcoa spokeswoman did not respond to requests for comment.
