Alcohol played a role in the Feb. 27 death of a North Apollo woman whose car crashed into a utility pole in Apollo and flipped over several times, according to the Armstrong County Coroner.

Jacqueline C. Hellein, 64, was alone in the car and died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.

On Thursday, Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers said Hellein had a blood alcohol content test result of almost 0.28%. That is more than three times the legal limit of 0.08%.

Hellein was driving north on North Warren Avenue when the car, for unknown reasons, it went off the road, sheered the utility pole and pushed it 20 feet to the side.

The car rolled several times before coming to a stop on its roof.

North Warren Avenue is posted at 25 mph speed limit, but police didn’t not say how fast Hellein was traveling.

Myers said toxicology and other tests will be done. The death remains under investigation.
