The Allegheny Family Network offers free shuttle service in the Highlands School District area.

A free shuttle service will resume normal operations in the Highlands area next week.

The shuttle, operated by Allegheny Family Network North with W.L. Roenigk Transportation, will resume on Tuesday, the network announced.

The shuttle offers 13 stops in Brackenridge, Harrison and Tarentum between about 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. and then again between about 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Stops are near Community Market, local pharmacies and Walmart.

The network said the shuttle will be sanitized after each loop. Riders are asked to distance themselves from other passengers and to stay home if they have symptoms of illness or are not feeling well.

The shuttle had been limited to Wednesdays only since April 1, said Misty Chybrzynski, community development specialist for Allegheny Family Network.

“We know people still need to get to stores, doctors’ offices and other places so we practiced social distancing and sanitizing on the bus while still providing at least a once-per-week option for people who needed it,” she said.

Funded by The Pittsburgh Foundation, the shuttle is offered to local mothers, the elderly and other residents without transportation to medical, education and family centers.

Service updates will be posted to the Allegheny Family Network’s Facebook page. For more information, call 412-246-2030, ext. 783.
