Allegheny Health Network announced Monday it is moving its Express Care clinic to new quarters in New Kensington.

The new location in Suite 1C at Kensington Square on Eighth Street is scheduled to open Feb. 21. It is next to the network’s New Kensington Outpatient Center, which opened there in December in Suite 1B after moving out of the former Citizens General Hospital.

The Express Care’s new location is not far from its current location at 305 Seventh St., across from the hospital and where it has operated since opening in July 2019. It will remain open there until the new location opens, said Kathy Englert, service line director for primary care for AHN.

The relocation “is for the convenience of the patients to be near the outpatient services,” Englert said.

The clinic will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Through AHN’s United Physicians practice, it will provide care for minor ailments and injuries, including allergies and asthma, coughs and colds, minor burns, cuts, sprains and strains.

“At United Physicians, we pride ourselves on the high-quality, personalized care we deliver to patients of our Express Care, many of whom rely on our providers for their routine primary care,” Dr. Mark Heino said.

The clinic usually sees patients 16 and older, but no one will be turned away, Englert said. If children are seen and need additional care, they will be referred to a hospital, family practice or pediatrician.

“The door’s open for everybody,” she said.

Patients needing lab or X-ray services will be able to visit the outpatient center.

Those with more serious health issues or emergencies should call 911 or visit the emergency department at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Harrison instead of the Express Care, Heino said.
