A popular ice cream business in Allegheny Township is on the market.

Sweetie’s Ice Cream, at 6273 Leechburg Road, is listed for $339,000 with Jason Mazzei of Keller Williams Realty.

Co-owner Edward Spix, who has owned it for almost a decade, said, “It’s time to move on.”

Mazzei said he has fielded a lot of interest from potential buyers but has not had any offers. “The new buyer just has to open the door and start working,” he said.

The property does not have a “for sale” sign but has been on the market since June 1.

Spix reassures his loyal customers that Sweetie’s has no plans to close.

“It will remain open while on the market,” Mazzei said.

All machinery and contents are included in the price.

Spix frequently hosts area food trucks, including Hot Ash Wood Fired Pizza of Vandergrift, and charitable events on the grounds.

The well-known sweets shop was built in 1980 and has two outdoor eating areas. The annual property taxes are listed at $2,818. The property is zoned for commercial use and offers 40 parking spaces.

Sweetie’s serves frozen specialty treats such as ice cream, frozen yogurt and sundaes.

When asked about the listing price, Mazzei said he feels the price point is fair. “We think it’s priced appropriately for the amount of income and the value of the property of the building,” he said.

He would not reveal Sweetie’s annual income.

Mazzei said a retiree would be a great potential buyer candidate. “This business is successful, and it’s not a hobby. It’s a job,” Mazzei said.
