Allegheny Township police are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted a woman in the township earlier this month.

Police Chief Duane Fisher on Tuesday said the assault happened in the early evening hours of April 11 in the parking area by the Braeburn docks, close to the end of the Tredway Trail but not on the trail, itself.

Fisher would not go into detail about the nature of the assault. The woman was not hospitalized, he said.

Fisher said police did not have a description of the suspect to release. He said police were working with the woman to develop a sketch.

“We’re reviewing video in the area,” he said. “We’re also talking to several other people that were down in that area at the time this reportedly happened.”

Fisher said police are increasing patrols in the area, not only because of this incident but also because use of the trail is up considerably because of the time of year and the covid-19 stay-at-home order.

Fisher urged those who go out to maintain awareness of their surroundings.

He said police were recently in that area and encountered people wearing headphones with music apparently so loud that they could not hear the sirens on police cars.
