Allegheny Township police said that, with the public’s help, they identified a man allegedly involved in a road rage assault.

Police said the incident took place around 5:45 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Route 56 and Hyde Park Road.

A male motorcyclist allegedly followed another vehicle from the Vandergrift area to the intersection.

Police said the motorcyclist dismounted his bike, went to the other vehicle and assaulted its driver. He got back on the motorcycle and followed the driver toward Kiski Area High School before turning around back toward Route 56.

Police want witnesses to come forward. A photo of the motorcyclist and his female passenger was posted on the department’s Facebook page as they sought to identify them.

Police Chief Duane Fisher confirmed that police have identified the man but refused to give his name until charges are filed.

Anyone with information about the incident can call 724-845-9410 to speak to an on-duty officer or leave a message for Chief Duane Fisher at 724-236-0200.
