Groundbreaking soon for new urgent care in Allegheny Township
Plans for an urgent care facility are moving forward in Allegheny Township.
The township approved plans for Rural Urgent Care, LLC at 48 Towne Center Drive, near the magistrate’s office, according to Supervisors Chairman Jamie Morabito.
Now, representatives from Rural Urgent Care are working with Westmoreland County engineers to finalize entrance and exit plans for the facility, he said.
The company plans to break ground sometime next year, Morabito said.
“Once they break ground, it’s six months from start to finish,” he said.
The facility will be 2,700 square feet. Plans call for one doctor and two or three physician assistants, Morabito said.
“It’s going to be an excellent addition to the township,” he said. “It was on my list to bring to the township, so everyone has access to a medical facility without having to leave the township and the area.
“This is going to be a huge asset.”
Supervisor Mike Korns supports the plan.
“It’s a wonderful thing for residents to have a medical center without leaving the township,” he said.
Township residents seeking urgent care services currently would have the option to go to UPMC’s urgent care facilities in Harrison or Tarentum. There also is a UPMC St. Margaret Family Health Care facility in Downtown New Kensington.
