Search for Penn Hills toddler continues; police say car went into Westmoreland County

Authorities on Sunday continued searching for a toddler who they say was abducted Saturday evening in Penn Hills.

Allegheny County police released new information Sunday afternoon saying that a car believed to have been involved traveled to the Blairsville, New Alexandria and Delmont areas of Westmoreland County between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officials issued an Amber Alert Saturday evening for Nalani Johnson, who police say was last seen at the intersection of Bryant and Prescott drives in Penn Hills.

Nalani, who turns 2 in September, has short, curly, black hair and brown eyes and was wearing a black shirt and a floral-pattern skirt with black sandals, police said. She goes by the nickname “Mooh.”

Sharena Islam Nancy, 25, is accused of driving off with the girl, police said. Authorities were questioning Nancy on Sunday.

Nancy is accused of driving off with the child in a black Toyota Yaris SUV with Lyft and Uber stickers in the front passenger-side windshield, police said. The vehicle was seen near the intersection of Routes 48 and 22 in Monroeville about 5:15 p.m. It apparently drove into Westmoreland County after that.

Police are asking anyone who saw the car in any of those locations to give them a call.

The Pittsburgh FBI office is assisting with the case, according to spokeswoman Catherine Policicchio, with county investigators taking the lead.
