Two people have been sworn in to fill Apollo Council seats vacated by members who resigned over differences with council’s leadership.

Councilwomen Ashley Stiffy and Nancy Walker resigned in April over a number of issues, including the removal of Stiffy from the public safety committee over hiring procedures for part-time police officers.

On Monday, Mayor Cindee Virostek swore in Republican Kristina Fox and Democrat Craig Williams.

A longtime registered nurse, Fox, 51, is clinical manager for medical operations for United Healthcare Insurance Co. She has done volunteer work in the borough.

“Being on council is a great opportunity to help and give back,” Fox said.

As a councilwoman, Fox said she would like to showcase what Apollo has to offer, including the town’s small shops and the nearby Roaring Run Trail in Kiski Township.

Williams, 49, is a case manager and transition coordinator for the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children.

Williams said he hopes to help advance the borough.

“I’d like to see more redevelopment and provide opportunities for youth to be engaged with the community,” he said.
